Questions about the MentalVideo

Q: I went back and reviewed the tapes and workbook and now I suspect that I may not be doing the mental video method correctly which may explain why I have not been very successful with the method. Here are some questions:

I am still not really clear on what is meant by "converting to a project". Do I actually recreate the video, or is it just a shift in perception to viewing it as a project now?

Then the instructions say that the mental video of the solution contains a step-by-step procedure of how I desire to solve the project. This is the main place where I think I am having a problem because I am not clear on what exactly is supposed to be included in the "solution video". Do I create a step-by-step process detailing how I plan to get to my objective and leave out the desired outcome? (I am taking what is stated literally and this is my interpretation) Or am I supposed to create a video showing the way I want things to be at a point in time when I am experiencing and enjoying my completed project?

What do I do if after three days I don't have any indications? Do I start all over and create the videos again and wait three more days or keep thinking of the solution is past tense sense until something happens?

Sorry for the long questions but I feel as if I am at an impasse on the mental video and really want to understand this stuff. The three scenes method is much more straight forward.

What if I have a problem and I know the outcome that I desire but I don't have a step-by-step solution to plug into the method. Neither the mental video method or three scenes method cover this?

A: Several people have asked what we mean by converting a problem into a project... I guess that's something we just explained so quickly and automatically in class that we overlooked it on the recordings! Your explanation is perfect... it is just a change in perception. We say it this way in class: It is only a problem when you don't know what to do about it. Once you are working on the solution, it is no longer a problem... it is a project.

Usually it is easier to answer questions and explain things with examples of actual projects you are working on... for instance, if I want a promotion on my job, I would make a video depicting me in my current job, whatever I am doing to improve my skills so that I am qualified for the new job, submitting the application or talking with my supervisor about it, then getting the word that I've gotten the promotion, and then enjoying the new job. These can be quick shots of each step, the way you see in television programs. Do whatever you think it takes to get the idea across. And involve your feelings... what would it feel like...

If you don't know the steps involved, just depict whatever you can. Imagine you are making an actual physical video to submit to somebody with the power to help you reach that goal. What would you need to show this person? Imagery is the universal language, so it is the pictures that count, now something you might say. So you want to imagine a video with a picture of each step mentioned above... or the steps you think are necessary for higher intelligence to understand what you are working on, what you think will be the best way to get there, and the desired end result.

Also remember the Laws of Programming, and when you get to the end result, depict all of the people who will benefit. One reason people fail to get results with MentalVideo is that their project does not conform to all of the Laws of Programming. They might be trying to take a job away from someone else who is also qualified to have that job, which would not be the best thing for everyone concerned.

Mr. Silva also advised us that we do not want to gain at somebody else's loss. So our project would have to take into account what will happen to the person we will replace... will that person get an even better job? Of course, if that person is not doing a good job, then there are other people who will benefit when you take over and do a better job.

If you don't see any "indications" within three days, there could be any of several reasons. As mentioned above, review the Laws of Programming... at your center of course. Also, at level, review the things that have happened during the last three days and think about whether any of them could be an indication. If you think that something might have been an indication of how to proceed, but you are not quite sure, then do another MentalVideo and get confirmation. One of two things will happen: Something will come along to confirm the first "indication," or you will get an indication that the first even was not an indication... or that you are interpreting it incorrectly.

It takes a little while to get used to it. Once you do, you will catch on very quickly. Sometimes the indications are very subtle. Almost every time I use the MentalVideo, the same thing happens. The next day I get a call from somebody, or a hear something on the radio, or an idea occurs to me and I act on it and something good comes from it, or somebody comes by to see me, or someone tells me about something that is happening in their life that gives me an idea - all of these are physical things, notice. And whatever it is... it helps me. And I feel very good about it. And then after a while, I realize: Oh... I did the MentalVideo last night... that was my "indication." It didn't happen because of something I did... it was guidance from higher intelligence.

I suppose I'm making progress because now I tend to realize it sooner than I used to... that it is not about me, but is guidance and help from higher intelligence.

The difference between this and the 3-Scenes Technique... with the 3-Scenes Technique you are just using your mind in the subjective (mental) dimension to influence things here on planet earth. You can influence your boss to give you the promotion... whether it is the best thing for you or not. We have a story in the Sales Power book about a lady who programmed a certain man to marry her. "You can do this," she told us, "it works... I know. But," she added, "it might not be the right thing for you." It sure wasn't for her... when they got divorced a few years later, he ended up with the real estate business that she founded, and she ended up with a better understanding of things.

The time to use the 3-Scenes Technique is when you have received guidance from higher intelligence, and confirmed it if you feel the need. Then, when you are sure that higher intelligence has confirmed that you are the right person for the job, use the 3-Scenes Technique to help you prepare for your meeting with your supervisor. The only thing I would do is to do that in order to program myself to make an appropriate presentation, one that will produce the result that is the best for all concerned... the result that higher intelligence wants. I have always included the statements: May God's will be done, and may the best thing be done for all concerned. In the third scene I picture myself successful in the project... but I keep in mind that higher intelligence might have another idea, and I am okay with that if it happens.

If you program that way, you will not achieve nearly as many of your projects with the 3-Scenes Technique... but you will probably live a better life. If the real estate lady had programmed that the solution be the best for everybody concerned, then maybe she would not have succeeded in getting that man to marry her... and thus would not have lost everything in the divorce a few years later.

If you don't know what the solution (or the desired outcome) is, you cannot use the 3-Scenes Technique. You can use the MentalVideo though: In your video, depict yourself perplexed as to what you should do, and expect to receive an indication from higher intelligence to guide you.

Mr. Silva's idea was that it is not up to us to make that final decision. We should do what we believe is right, what we think is the best thing... and we should be open to guidance from higher intelligence.

For instance:

On two different occasions Mr. Silva decided that he had gone far enough with his research and he quit. One of his reasons for stopping his research was that it was costing a lot of money, and it was taking a lot of his time away from the family.

In both instances, something happened that he took to be a sign from higher intelligence that he should continue.

Once you receive that kind of indication, you act on it and then observe the results when you do. Use the MentalVideo to continue to give reports to higher intelligence, and if you misunderstood or misinterpreted the "indication," then you will get another that will let you know how to proceed.

You can think of it like working on a job. Your supervisor tells you to do something... to rearrange the furniture, or write a letter. You get to work on it. Later, when the supervisor looks in to see how you are doing, she says that she would prefer the desk over there instead of where you moved it... or that this paragraph would not be good to include, so please take it out.

In other words, the things you do right, she will praise, the things that could be improved, she will let you know.

Higher intelligence will do the same for you... as long as you are using the MentalVideo to keep higher intelligence advised of what you are doing and what the results are.

If you want to give me actual examples of projects you are working on, perhaps I can make suggestions that will make more sense.

Be patient. It took me a couple of years to really begin to understand and appreciate the MentalVideo. It is not about us doing what we want. It is about us doing what higher intelligence wants us to do.

Not "my" will, but "Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." In other words, Mr. Silva pointed out, the plans are already made in heaven, now it is up to us to carry them out here on planet earth.

Thanks again... and let me know if you have more questions.

Q: Thank you for explaining things so clearly for me. I will give the mental video technique a try again.

My project is nor an easy one. I am interested in knowing what my real purpose for being here is from higher intelligence. What always does inspire me is getting off work at the end of the day and spending what miniscule time there is left in the day with my family.

For the problem/project mental video I know I can state the problem pretty clearly and show some pretty vivid footage of myself being uninspired. However; I don't know what my goal is, it is a blank, so I don't know the steps to get there.

As for the three scenes method: It helped me find an alternate solution to some minor elective surgery that I am considering. I asked my doctor about the alternative, he seemed intrigued and interested and told me to give it a try, so I am.

A: For the second Video, see if you can picture yourself really inspired and satisfied that you have done something to improve conditions on the planet, something that a lot of people benefited from.

I suspect that our "purpose in life" might not be the thing that is the most fun for us to do. In fact, we often see that people wind up working very hard and making many sacrifices in doing things that make a real difference in the world. That was certainly the case with Jose Silva. He had an opportunity to be an opera singer. He would have loved to spend more time with his family. Instead, he spent lots of time and half a million dollars (in the 1960s... a lot of money back then) conducting his research. As a result, the church threatened to excommunicate him (he met with them and they backed down), the District Attorney investigated him, friends shunned him... it was not fun. Even his wife thought he was a witch the first few years, and ever time he'd start hypnotizing one of the kids, she'd grab the other children and take them somewhere else. Eventually she saw the value in what he was doing and joined him in his work. She was the one who conditioned the three youngest children.

So... perhaps you can review those Laws of Programming, and then make a video with you feeling pleased and satisfied with the things you have accomplished.
And... at your center... the alpha level... which is the ideal place to do your thinking... think about the whole matter. What did you enjoy doing when you were young? What did people praise you for? What gave you a sense of satisfaction, of fulfillment, or pride? Not necessarily the thing that you enjoy the most, but the things that give you a great sense of accomplishment... and that help lots and lots of people.

John La Tourrette (featured on the new Remote Viewing album) has an interesting idea: Project into the future and picture yourself where you'd like to be... pleased that you are doing something that makes a difference and improves conditions on the planet. Then go back on your time line from that future time, and notice the things that you did to get there. That can show you some of the steps along the way.

After you do all of that analysis, of course, then do your MentalVideo, and look for indications of how to proceed. When an opportunity presents itself, do something about it... act on it, follow it up... and see what happens. If it is easy to make progress in that direction, keep on going and see what happens next. If you run into obstacles, and the obstacles get more and more difficult, that's not the direction you should be going. We don't quit at the first sign of trouble of course; neither do we batter down doors, according to Mr. Silva. If a door still won't open after you try it several times, then back off and look for another door.

What happens to me is that I don't always recognize the indications right away. I notice them and just think, "Wow, that's interesting, and then go on my way." And a little later the light comes on and I realize: Oh, that was an indication!

Now there's a good use of the 3-Scenes Technique: You can use it to program yourself to recognize and become aware of "indications" as soon as they present themselves. And to act on them, of course.

Sometimes we don't like the answers we get. Two different times Mr. Silva quit his research, and both times, within a matter of hours he received signs - "indications" - that higher intelligence wanted him to continue. So he did. That's where our free will comes in. Higher intelligence gives us our assignments, and it is our choice whether to accept them or not. Millions of people around the world are grateful that Jose Silva accepted his assignment. It was hard on him... and was also very satisfying.
